Frank B. Brock, 79, died at his Long Beach residence on May 29, 2009 with his wife June at his side after a very long and courageous battle with COPD. Born in Rigby, Idaho on March 21, 1930 he was one of three children born to Frank B. Brock St. and Verda (Hill) Brock. Frank joined the US Navy in 1947 and following three years of active duty he was honorably discharged in 1950. In 1961 he joined the US Naval Reserves where he completed 14 years of service, being honorably discharged in 1975. Frank began working for Mountain Bell Telephone Company in Idaho in 1950. In 1964 he was transferred to Denver, Colorado where he finished his career with the telephone company and retired in 1981. In 1970 he met and married June (Smith) Meyer of Denver. Shortly after his retirement Frank and June moved to Ilwaco where Frank began a new career and adventure in the charter fishing industry. From 1981 thru 1984 he worked as a deck hand on several boats. In 1985 he completed training to become a charter boat skipper. From 1985 thru 1996 he skippered the Hi Time, the Marr-B III and several other vessels out of the Port of Ilwaco, retiring in 1996. Frank was a long time member of the National Rifle Association and a life member of the Elks lodge, having joined in 1951. He enjoyed fishing, shooting his guns and re-loading his own bullets. He also loved to tinker in his workshop doing woodworking and building models, but most importantly, he loved spending time with his wife of 40 years, the love of his life, June. Besides his spouse, Frank is survived by his sister Loha Call of Boise, Idaho; sons Alan Hall of Portland, OR, Kevin Brock of Blackhawk, CO and Kelly Brock of Oak Harbor, WA; grandchildren Becky Brock, Mandy Williams, Jason and Jessica Pickering; and great granddaughter Jasmyn Hickman.
