Virginia E. Parsons, 83, died June 25, 2009 at her Long Beach residence. She was born October 27, 1925 in Ontario, Oregon where her parents John and Fern (Welch) Hoffman were wheat farmers. Virginia received her education in Ontario. Following high school she moved to Portland where she completed her registered nurse education. Virginia lived and nursed in New York, Ohio and Seattle, Washington prior to settling on the Peninsula in 1969. For the following 18 years she was a registered nurse at Ocean Beach Hospital in Ilwaco. There she worked closely with John Campiche MD and was also a surgical nurse. Virginia was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and locally had served as church secretary. Blessed with a wonderful singing voice she often sang at church. Virginia enjoyed her poodles, Pixie and Dixie, and in past years traveling. She and Clarence D. Parsons were married March 20, 1950 in Vancouver whom she met on a blind date. He died earlier as did her son Dennis Parsons and daughter Leslie Gayle. Virginia is survived nieces, nephews and other members of her extended family. Graveside service will be held Friday, July 3, 2009, 11:00 AM at Ilwaco Cemetery. Virginia was especially appreciative of the care provided her by Harbors Home Health and Hospice and especially Christie Pflughaupt RN for her care and attention.
