Hope B. Wyant died in Raymond, Washington here she had been born 100 years earlier. The daughter of Sanford and Lucy (Hawk) Roush, she was born in Raymond on August 21, 1909. Her father worked as a saw filer and the family traveled with him throughout western United States. Hope had many stories of her adventuresome childhood. Hope resided in Portland for a number of years, employed at Meier & Frank department store. Forty years ago she moved to the Peninsula where she found work in local motels and restaurants. She enjoyed raising begonias, loved anything chocolate and was fond of animals, especially her cat Kemo. She was proud to have reached the century mark in her life. Hope was preceded in death by husbands Walter Brown and George Wyant as wells as siblings Lucille, Archie and Clifford. There are no immediate survivors other than close friends. Hope will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland with her husband George. Memorials may be made to Pacific Aging Council Endeavors (PACE) in Ilwaco.
