Wilma D. Humason, 93, died at her Long Beach residence on November 17, 2009 surrounded by family. One of 10 children born to Henry and Myrtle (Green) Madorin, she was born in Kirksville, Missouri on June 11, 1916. She grew up in Kirksville where she received her education. In 1932 she married William "Bill" Humason and they resided in Missouri until moving to Portland, Oregon in the early 1940s. There Wilma became a wife, mother and homemaker. She worked in a laundry in southwest Portland, was a welder at Pacific Chain Company and then was employed in various capacities at Rogers variety stores in the Portland area. In 1979 she and Bill retired to the Peninsula. Wilma was an avid pinochle player, enjoyed yard work, took great pride in her flowers and kept her hands busy crocheting. Walks on the nearby beach with her sisters were daily events and Wilma was skilled at crafts, making Christmas ornaments and other knick-knacks. Wilma also looked after her feathered friends, feeding the seagulls, hummingbirds and other birds. A strong-willed Missourian, Wilma was extremely dedicated to her entire extended family. Wilma is survived by her son Jackie Humason of West Richland, WA; grandsons Carl and Scott Harvitt; 1 great-grandchild and 1 great-great grandchild. In addition she is survived by sisters Kathryn Haavisto and Gladys Schneider both of Long Beach, Marjorie Shoop of Lake Oswego, OR and JoAnn Burris if Monroe City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her daughter Patti McKenzie, brothers Billy, Emil and Henry "Hank" Madorin and sisters Betty Novinger and Norma Madorin.
