Beth McQueen

May 31, 1943 — November 29, 2009

Beth McQueen, 66, died following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer at her Ocean Park residence on November 29, 2009 with her family at her side. Beth was born in Vancouver, Washington on May 31, 1943, the daughter of Wayne and Bonita Knable. She attended Providence Academy and St. Joseph grade schools in Vancouver and was a 1961 graduate of Battle Ground High School. She married Tom McQueen, her high school sweet heart, on July 22, 1961. Beth retired in 1992 from the Vancouver school district department of transportation after 27 years of bus driving. Thirteen years ago she and Tom moved to Ocean Park. Beth enjoyed camping, fishing and clamming. Her most enjoyable camping trip was a month long venture to Alaska. She was also an avid keno player and loved the casinos in Reno. Watching the wildlife at her residence was also greatly enjoyed. A member of Ocean Park Eagles, she also was a member of Peninsula Moose where she loved to volunteer and help with whatever was needed. Besides her husband of 48 years, Beth is survived by sons Kevin (Donna) of Vancouver, WA and Steve (Sandi) of Washougal; mother Bonita Knable of Battle Ground, WA; sister Lori (Jerry) Bader and brothers Dennis (Susan) and Leland (Jayne) Knable all of Vancouver, WA; and grandchildren Sean, Spencer, Jaymi, Sam and Scott. She was preceded in death by her father Wayne in 1986 and her sister Deanne Johnson earlier this year. Celebration of her life and potluck will be held Saturday, December 19, 2009, 1:00 PM at Peninsula Moose Lodge, 25915 U Street in Ocean Park. Memorials may be made to Harbors Home Health & Hospice, 201 7th St., Hoquiam, WA 98550. Her guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
