Guy Mullins

Naselle resident Guy L. Mullins, 79, died January 2, 2010 in Longview, WA. The son of Deward and Zelda (Gilbert) Mullins, he was born in Crandon, Wisconsin on October 29, 1930. He grew in Crandon where he received his education and helped his father working in the woods. In his late teens Guy moved to Milwaukee before leaving Wisconsin and moving to Alaska where he began his lifelong employment in the construction trades. Soon after arriving in Alaska, however, he was drafted into the United States Marine Corps where he served aboard a ship during the Korean Conflict. Following his military duty Guy settled in the Northwest where he resumed employment in construction. When his mother became ill he returned to Wisconsin where he was employed at the American Motors plant in Milwaukee. On July 11, 1959 he married Maureen McMahon and they resided in Milwaukee until moving west to Coos Bay, Oregon in 1961. Guy and his family followed construction projects throughout Oregon and Washington. In 1976 they settled in Naselle. There Guy finished his employment and could enjoy his outdoor pursuits of hunting and fishing. He particularly enjoyed fishing for the northern pike minnow at Bonneville Dam and financial incentive of caching these fish. Guy was blessed with a friendly, outgoing personality. He was generous, unselfish, devoted to his family and particularly enjoyed his grandchildren. Besides his wife of 50 years he is survived by his son Clay Langley Mullins of Naselle; daughters Jacquelyn Witt of Bremerton, WA and Kerry York of Naselle; sisters Gypsy Faircloth of Homestead, FL, Joann Vees of Mukwonago, Wisconsin and Donna Woolridge of Waukesha, Wisconsin; 7 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and other members of his extended family. He was preceded in death by his sister June Fisher and his son Scott Mullins who died in 1978. Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2010, 1:00 PM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach. A reception follows at the chapel.
