Josiah W. "Jesse" Barker, 100, died January 1, 2010 in Milwaukie, Oregon where he had resided the past four and a half years. The son of James and Ann (Alvey) Barker, he was born in Escalante, Utah on January 24, 1910. In his younger years Jesse was a cowboy, a profession of which he was most proud. He later was employed as a warehouseman. Following retirement he and his wife retired to Ocean Park where they had maintained a summer home for a number of years. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Letter-Day Saints and was very devoted to his faith. Jesse was proud to have made it to the century mark in his life. He was married to Lela Alberta Griffin until her death in 1987. Survivors include his daughter-in-law Marie Barker of Milwaukie, OR; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great grandchildren. His two sons preceded him in death. Funeral service was held January 4, 2010 at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach. Dedication of the grave and burial followed at Ilwaco Cemetery.
