Ruby Irene Owen

July 7, 1934 — January 6, 2010

Long Beach resident Ruby I. Owen, 93, died in Portland, Oregon on January 6, 2010. Born in Princeton, Missouri on June 5, 1916 she was the daughter of Thomas and Bertha (Swan) Linn. Ruby grew up and received her education in Princeton and it was there that she married Foster Owen on July 7, 1934. Ruby lived a number of years in Yakima, Washington. There she was a wife, mother and homemaker. Later she was employed as a hostess and waitress at various restaurants in the Yakima valley. In 1987 she and Owen moved to the Peninsula and soon there after on July 27, 1987 Foster died. Ruby enjoyed the quiet life at the beach. She was a gardener and also enjoyed quiet time just sitting on her porch. She had a delightful sense of humor, a warm smile and deeply cared for her family, companion and friends. Ruby is survived by her daughter Barbara Pleasant of Long Beach; granddaughter Stacy and husband Jim of Long Beach; grandson Tommy of Walla Walla, WA; great-granddaughter Cheyenne Crandell; great-grandson Austin Robinson; and her friend and companion Corky of Long Beach. Ruby's family gathered for a final goodbye at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea. Burial next to Foster followed at Lone Fir Cemetery in Long beach.
