Norma A. Clark, 88, a longtime resident of the Peninsula, died May 7, 2010 in Raymond, Washington. Born May 14, 1921 in Tacoma, Washington, she was the daughter of Ralph and Eunice Wilson. Norma grew up in Naselle and on the Peninsula and was a 1939 graduate of Ilwaco High School. On April 12, 1941 she married Lyle Clark and they settled in Ocean Park where Norma was active in a variety of community events. She and Lyle operated the first bakery in Ocean Park and during that time also operated a restaurant. Later she helped Lyle at his fish cannery, Lyle's Custom Cannery and the couple were also instrumental in the operation of Ocean Park's first water works. Norma was a member of Ocean Park Moose and Eagles Lodges along with the Surfside Golf Club. She was an avid golfer and bowler. In later years she enjoyed spending time with Ben "Walt" Zinser, her close longtime companion. They enjoyed playing cards and many happy hours at the Peninsula Senior Center in Klipsan Beach. Norma is survived by her sisters Marilyn Wilson Jenson (Kenny) and Nancy Wilson Armendariz; son Bud Clark (Sally); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other members of her extended family. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ralph Wilson Jr., Kenneth Wilson and Philip Wilson; her son Norman Clark; her daughter Carla Clark; and her husband of nearly 50 years, Lyle, who died in 1990. Graveside service will be held Saturday, May 15, 2010, 12 Noon at Ilwaco Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 1 PM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach, with a reception following.
