Ocean Park, Washington resident Brant M. Culbertson, 82, died June 14, 2010 in Portland, Oregon. Born in Grants Pass, Oregon on July 10, 1927 he was the son of Samuel and Sarah (Sharp) Culbertson. He grew up in nearby Central Point where he graduated from high school in 1945. Following high school Brant served two terms of duty with the United States Navy as a radio repairman being honorably discharged in 1953. During the ensuing years he was employed in the electrical and electronics fields in the Bay area of California until moving to Ocean Park 32 years ago. There he cleared and logged the lot where he built his retirement home. In years past Brant enjoyed piloting his Aronca aircraft among other pursuits. When his flying days were over he began building and flying motorized model aircraft and was instrumental in starting the Beachmaster Radio-Controlled Model Club in Ocean Park, being an active member for 22 years until his passing. He delighted in sharing his hobby with others and especially enjoyed demonstrations for children on the Peninsula during the annual 4th of July celebration in Ocean Park. Brant was very much his own man, was blessed with a unique and delightful sense of humor, and as truly "one of a kind" and he took pride in doing it "his way or no way". Brant was also active as a member of the local Ham radio club, having received his license in 1978. In that endeavor he was active as the Emergency Management Coordinator of the local Ham radio club, assisting local law enforcement as needed. His wife of 48 years, Virginia, died in 2008. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law Lavonne and John Bradshaw of Ocean Park; step-daughters Mae Redig of Beaverton, OR and Fae Camarillo of San Jose, CA; sisters Neolea Archer of Klipsan Beach, WA and Suzie Pense of Napa, CA; two grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren with a fifth on the way.
