Bobbie Matthews

Gabriele K. "Bobbie" Matthews, 61, died July 20, 2010 at her Naselle, Washington residence following a short illness. Bobbie was born in Frankfurt, Germany on January 23, 1949. She resided in Germany until she was a teenager when she moved to Tacoma, Washington with her mother Ruth, sister Karin and step-father Henry. Bobbie graduated from Franklin Pierce High School in Tacoma. On May 2, 1981 she married her husband Gary and on February 10, 1984 she gave birth to her twins Kaitlyn and Geoffrey. Bobbie was active for years in the construction business in the Tacoma-Puyallup area. She helped found a woman-owned construction business in the 1980s and continued working in the industry until retirement called and she moved to Naselle three years ago. After moving to Naselle Bobbie kept active by volunteering with various community projects. Her passing will leave a void in the lives of her family, friends and co-workers. Bobbie is survived by her husband Gary Matthews; children Kaitlyn Matthews and Geoffrey Matthews; sister Karin (Jon) Ward; nieces Kimberly Ward, Jennifer (Tom and Lucy) Bruce; nephew Jason (Tishelle, Reese and Payton) Ward; and other members of her extended family. A memorial service will be held at the Rosburg Community Hall in Rosburg, Washington on Sunday August 1, 1010 at 1:00 PM. Bobbie's guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
