Darold W. Hambly, 59, died at his Ilwaco residence on July 23, 2010 of cancer. Born November 17, 1950 in Longview, Washington, he was the son of Wallace and Lorena (Shannon) Hambly. Darold grew up in Kalama, Washington before moving to the Peninsula after briefly residing in Naselle where he attended school. Darold was employed with various commercial fishing endeavors out of the Port of Ilwaco for a number of years. In June of 1977 he married his wife Bonnie in Reno, Nevada and the ensuing years were occupied logging in the local area. Playing pool with the Peninsula pool league was a favorite pastime. Additionally, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends and also mining for lost treasures with his metal detector. Darold is survived by his daughters Megan Hambly of Seattle and Heather Hambly-Fitzgerald of Vancouver, WA; brother Wally Hambly of Carlin, Nevada; grandson Blaine Fitzgerald; granddaughters Emmaline Butts and Brooke Fitzgerald; and nephew Bill Hambly.
