Forrest A. Siemroth, 81, of Ilwaco died August 17, 2010 at home with his wife of 54 years, Rose, by his side. Always known as Frosty, he was born April 3, 1929 in Portland, OR to Albert and Elsie Marie (Whiela) Siemroth. He grew up in Portland and graduated from Franklin High School in 1947. Frosty attended the University of Portland, graduating in 1954 with a BA, Magna Cum Laude. He then joined the US Army during the Korean Conflict. It was during the service he met Rose Saraceni, who was also in the Army at the time, and they were married on April 7, 1956. Following his enlistment, he returned to Univ. of Portland where he earned a Masters Degree and following that, attended Univ. of Washington and received a second Masters Degree. He also attended Univ. of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. He taught in the Portland Public School system for over two decades. He was a member of Christ the King parish in Milwaukie, OR. During the summer school break season, he would come to the Peninsula and started a charter salmon fishing business, Frosty's Charters, as well as skippering five other boats. In 1977 he and Rose built their home on Cooks Hill in Ilwaco, and they moved there full time. He was also a fulltime NAMS Marine Surveyor, working both local and coast wide. Frosty was a active member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Seaview. He volunteered extensively at the church and rectory, doing the maintenance, jack of all trades and all round problem solver. He was the founding member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and served as President for twelve years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served as Eucharist minister in addition. Frosty enjoyed reading, fishing serving others and cherished his travels with Rose. In addition to Rose, he is survived by daughters Martha Elizabeth (Larry) Young of Bainbridge Island, WA and Clare Veronica (Robert) Schaefer of Mission Veijo, CA; grandchildren Christopher and Matther Saddoria of Mission Viejo, Victoria Schaefer of Mission Viejo, Scott Albert (Meagan) Young of Fayetteville, NC, Karen Nora (David) Lantz of Key Port, WA and John Ray Young; two great-grandchildren, Colin David and Cody Mark Lantz. Visitation and prayer and recitation of the rosary will take place Saturday August 21 at 7 PM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach. Funeral mass will be held Monday, August 23rd at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Seaview. Burial will be at Willamette national Cemetery in Portland.
