Long Beach resident Jean T. Underwood, 69, died September 15, 2010 in Vancouver, Washington where she was being cared for by family. Born September 12, 1941 in Watford City, North Dakota, she was one of three children born to Palmer and Thelma (Wollan) Graue. As a small child she moved with her parents to Battle Ground, Washington. Later the family moved to Portland, Oregon where Jean graduated from high school. Following high school Jean returned to Battle Ground. In 1964 she married Dick Grieve and the couple resided in Milwaukie, Oregon. They later divorced. Twenty five years ago Jean moved to the Peninsula. In 1989 she married Van Underwood who died in 1998. Jean was a hard worker all her life. She was employed by Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone, International Paper at one of their plywood mills and by Shilo Inns. After moving to Long Beach Jean worked at Milton York Candy before going to work at Long Beach Pharmacy. There she was a familiar face behind the counter for a number of years before retiring. Jean was a Clark County Channel Breaker, a past Noble Grand of the Rebekahs and a member of Ocean Park Eagles. Jean loved spending time with family, especially enjoying trips near and far, picnics and sunsets on the beach, or fishing. She was an "animal lover" who enjoyed the companionship of Reba, her protective buddy Houston and she was surrounded by puppies at her passing. Jean is survived by daughter Tracey Warren of Long Beach, WA: sons Chris Grieve of Vancouver, WA and Dennis Grieve and wife Traci of Vancouver; grandchildren Christopher Jordan, Samantha Jordan, Anthony Grieve, Dillon Carter Grieve, Hunter Grieve and Shaylann Grieve; Ashley and Michael Huddleston, Andrew, Andy and Ashley Paxton, Jeremy Fry, Jasmine, Christine and Amber Pursley, and Rebecca Grieve; great-grandchildren Hayley Accetta, Andy Paxton Jr. and Payge Paxton. She was preceded in death by her sister Corrine Ward and her brother Memorial Services to be held Saturday October 2, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea.
