Shelley Lee Taylor-Miller

Former Long Beach resident Shelley L. Miller, 45, died in Vancouver, Washington on October 2, 2010 of natural causes. The daughter of Donald and Diane (Hall) Taylor, she was born in Newport, Oregon on May 8, 1965. As a child she lived with her parents in Charleston, OR, Port Angeles, WA, Long Beach, CA, and Garden Grove, CA. In 1973 she settled in Ilwaco where she attended Hilltop Elementary, Long Beach Elementary and was a 1983 graduate of Ilwaco High School where she sang in the choir. Following high school Shelley moved to Vancouver, WA where she attended Western Business College. In 1987 she returned to the Peninsula. There she became an EMT for the Long Beach Ambulance Service, worked at Circle of Life Adult Foster Care and at several restaurants including Chuck's and Sea Mist. In 2004 Shelley moved to Camas, Washington where she was employed at Stewart Title Insurance until illness a year ago. Shelley had been baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Seaview. She was an avid computer aficionadoutilizing online and Facebook connections to stay in touch with her many friends. Blessed with an excellent voice, she also enjoyed singing. A lover of animals, she enjoyed the companionship of her dog Jaxon. And Shelley was an avid, repeat avid, Seahawks football fan with countless items of memorabilia and she looked forward to every Seahawks game. Shelley, too, was a lover of eagles. She posted sightings on her computer and enjoyed watching them soar in the clouds. Shelley and Matthew Miller were married April 15, 2000 and he survives residing in Camas. Also surviving are her father Donald Taylor of Beaverton, OR; mother Diane (Bill) Wason of Ilwaco, WA; daughter Kayla Taylor of Camas, WA; sisters Linda Reeder of Ilwaco, Melissa Wason of Camas, WA, Laura Bowers of Oroville, CA; Denise Breuss of Canby, OR and brother Chris Wason of Ilwaco. Also surviving are many other members of her extended family. She was preceded in death by her brother Don Taylor. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 9, 2010, 1:00 PM at Penttila's Chapel by the Sea in Long Beach. Graveside service follows at Ilwaco Cemetery with a reception at Penttila's Chapel.
