Vancouver, Washington resident Dale L. Bott, 79, died at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver on October 30, 2010 of acute leukemia. The son of Claude and Eliza Bott, he was born in Wenatchee, Washington on September 18, 1931. As a child he lived in Bellingham prior to moving to Vancouver in 1942. Dale was employed as a longshoreman for I.L.W.U. Local #8 of Portland for 34 years, retiring in 1993. Dale lived life to the fullest and enjoyed traveling to Arizona for many years. He also enjoyed a great many friendships and took pride in his beautiful backyard. Dale married Lois Powell in 1949 and together they raised 3 sons. They later divorced. In 1992 he married Marva Wirkkala who survives residing in Vancouver. Also surviving are sons Allan (Ji) Bott of Thailand, Rex (Alicia) Bott of Kelso, WA, Greg (Angie) Bott of Hood River, OR; step-sons Keith (Dianne) Wirkkala and Eric Wirkkala both of Naselle, WA; sister Joan Steifel Brandel, brother Forrest Bott; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Tony and Alvin Bott and sister Edytha Stockton. Funeral service will be held at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Vancouver on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 3:00 PM. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010, 1:00 PM at Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle, WA with a reception following at Naselle Lutheran Church.
