John Bernard Jr.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 PM Sun., December 5, 2010 at the Ocean Park Eagles lodge for John Bernard Jr. A resident of Oysterville the past 21 years, John died November 21, 2010 in Ilwaco at age 77. The son of John Bernard Sr. and Marvell Blake, he was born in Norfolk, Virginia on April 14, 1933. John served his country for over 20 years as a member of the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of master sergeant in 1970. He and Barbara Folck where married May 6, 1963. The couple settled in Oysterville and John was a member of both the Ocean Park Moose and Eagles lodges. Besides his wife Barbara, John is survived by a son Jeffrey Bernard; daughter Kendall K. Rivers of Oysterville; brother Raymond Barnard of Virginia; sister Della "Tina" Fitzgerald of Chesapeake, VA; grandchildren Christopher Richards, Jacob Barber, Kortney Barber, Andrew Rivers and Timothy Rives; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son Bradley Bernard.
