Dorothy L. McSwane, 74, lost her battle with cancer on December 27, 2010 at her Klipsan Beach residence. Born March 8, 1936 in Alamogordo, New Mexico, she was the daughter of Courtney and Lucille Lee. Dorothy graduated from Yuma (Arizona) Union High School and obtained her degree in economics from the University of Arizona. Dorothy held the honor of National President of the Future Homemakers of America in 1951. She also has been president of the Lioness, Past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star in New Mexico, and locally a member of both Ocean Park Eagles and Moose lodges. In the mid 1950s she resided in Alaska where she worked as an accountant and raised her family. Moving back to Arizona in the 1960s she was employed by Greater Arizona Savings. She moved to the Peninsula 3 years ago to be near family, coming from Tularosa, New Mexico where she resided for 20 years, operating her own real estate business. Dorothy is survived by two former husbands, William Kryger and Alfred Barber; children Colletta Kryger,(and son-in-law Donald Jensen) with whom she was residing, Tonya McClendon, Darcy Galletti, Lena Barber, Dino Barber; step-children James Kennedy, Phyllis Kennedy, Dianne Kennedy, Jay McSwane and Myron McSwane; grandchildren Danie'l Tonacchio, Richard Tonacchio, William Tonacchio, Tish Hice, Tracy Barber, Katy Barber, Anthony Barber, Alita Matz, Roberto Galletti, Niccolo Galletti, Jennifer, Donny Jensen, Robert Jensen and Shonna Jensen, Wayne McSwane, Gabe McSwane, Jason McSwane and Haley McSwane; great-grandchildren Ethan, Blossom, Hunter and Nickloas; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by children Alfred Barber Jr. and Jessica Kennedy; husband Phillip Kennedy and husband Nobel "Mac" McSwane (Lt. Col., Ret.). Dorothy was full of life, and among her many activities she enjoyed riding her motorcycle and traveling, having literally gone around the world with family and friends. She loved her family! No service will be held locally. Dorothy's family requests memorials to the South Pacific County Humane Society as she loved all animals, especially her faithful pooch Minnie.
