Scott L. Hux, 52, died April 25, 2011 peacefully at sleep, at his Long Beach, Washington residence. Born in Portland, Oregon on April 22, 1959 he was the second son of John and Ardis Hux. Scott grew up in Montana where he resided until 1970. During these early years he developed his love of the outdoors and activities involving the water. Moving to Vancouver, Washington Scott graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in 1977. He attended Clark College where he took classes in auto mechanics and welding. Ever the adventure seeker, Scott lived on a sail boat for a number of years prior to moving to Long Beach in 2001. He was also a certified diver. His life long dream of sailing was not obtainable due to health concerns so living at the coast near the ocean became his passion, and he regarding the Peninsula as his "holy place". He had a great sense of humor and a fondness for cats. Scott was employed as a welder and later at Montgomery Wards in the auto service department until moving the Long Beach. After moving to the Peninsula, Scott became a landlord. He was a very spiritual person, a deep thinker, and a man of many interests. A sailor at heart, he was interested in astrology and photography. He enjoyed fishing, camping, drives on the beach, buying and trading items with and for family, bar-be-cues, watching movies and his music. In past years he was proud of having been a Boy Scout and as a teenager active in delivering papers and mowing lawns. Scott is survived by his son Christopher Hux; brother Mark Hux; sisters Janelle Hux and Lynne Bieber and grandson Michael Scott Hux, all of Vancouver; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. No service is scheduled. His guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
