Janet Ross

Janet J. Ross, 73, a life long resident of the Peninsula, died at her Long Beach resident on June 23, 2011 with her family at her side. Born September 25, 1937 in Aberdeen, Washington she was the daughter of Al and Mytrle (Goulter) Darnell. Janet grew up in Ilwaco where she attended grade school and attended Ilwaco High School until the eleventh grade. Janet loved the Peninsula and never longed to live any where else. She married Ronald Leroy Ross on April 21, 1978 and together they operated the Long Beach liquor store for fifteen years until retirement. A member of the Ladies of Long Beach Elks #1937, Janet was devoted to her entire family. Besides her husband Ronald, Janet is survived by her son Mike Ross of Seattle; daughter Sue Iverson of Springfield, OR; son Robert Ross of Bremerton, WA and daughter Jona J. Korzinski of Long Beach. Also surviving are an "amazing" cousin Jill McNew of Iiwaco; 101 year old aunt Edna May Liden of Ilwaco, brothers Mike Darnell of Vancouver, WA, George Lusk of Chula Vista, CA and Lore Lusk; grandsons Chuck (Terry Ann) of Long Beach, Gregory Iverson of Chinook, Jon and Eric Ross both of Bremerton, WA; great-grandchildren Ryan Morris and Emily Morris; and her beloved canine companion Samo. Janet requested no formal service be held and wished a celebration of her life instead. This will be announced in Mid-July when her family and friends can gather.
