Ocean Park resident Nancy O. Owens, 75, died peacefully at her residence on September 13, 2001. Born June 10, 1936 in Houston, Texas, she was the second of two daughters born to Kyle and Inez Owens. The Owens family relocated to Los Angeles, California in 1939 where Nancy attended public schools. She met Norbert H. Prechel on a blind date while attending UCLA in 1955 and six months later they were married. In 2001 Nancy and Norbert celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Nancy was a devoted wife and loving mother to four children; Susan, Greg, Kristine and Jeffrey. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends at her residence and was blessed with a talent and passion for music which she passed on to her children. Nancy taught elementary school at Prince of Peace Lutheran School in Costa Mesa, California during the 1970 and remained very active in church activities throughout her life. She always felt that one of her most rewarding endeavors was her 14 year tenure as choir director for the Ocean Park Lutheran Church and her favorite venue was performing with the choir at the annual Oysterville Church Vesper Services. She and her husband moved to Ocean Park 15 years ago. He survives as do their four children. Also surviving are grandchildren Heidi, Travis, Garrett, Tessa, David, Michael, Martha, Elka, Ava and Axel. Nancy's family and fiends will remember this special lady in each song they sing and each note they play. A memorial service was held Saturday, September 17, 2011, 11:00 AM at Ocean Park Lutheran Church with a reception following. Memorials are requested in Nancy's honor to the Ocean Park Lutheran Church Choir Fund. Her guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
