Danny Noonan, 85, a long time resident of Ilwaco, died November 26, 2011 in Portland. The eldest of 4 sons born to Vincent and Gertrude (Osteby) Noonan, he was born September 14, 1926 in Pasco, Washington. When Danny was five years old the family moved to Ilwaco where he grew up and received his education. The Noonan family operated Ilwaco Bakery for a number of years and Danny was employed there as a baker, a skill he took great pride in throughout his life. Later he was a commercial fisherman in Alaska, returned to baking at the family bakery and then managed the Bumble Bee Seafoods Receiving Station in Ilwaco and was employed at Jessie's Ilwaco Fish Company prior to retirement. Danny enjoyed fishing, deer and elk hunting. He spent countless hours carving his own miniture models of ducks. He also built small boats which he utilized for both rowing and motor boating, exploring local waterways often with his friend Harry Dunlap. Danny was a "true local" in Ilwaco where he enjoyed small town life and many friendships. Danny married Joan Lundeen in 1958 and adopted her daughter. The couple later divorced. Danny is survived by his adopted daughter Diana Scott of Longview, WA; brothers Harry Noonan of Silverlake, WA and James Noonan of Vancouver, WA; two grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Thomas Noonan. A memorial gathering will be held from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 17, 2011at 306 1st Ave. N. in Ilwaco (first green house north of the hospital).
