Phyllis S. Waters, 77, a resident of the Peninsula the past 25 years, died in Longview on February 20, 2012 following a valiant battle with cancer. The daughter of John and Helen Satala, she was born June 28, 1934 in Chicago. Phyllis grew up and resided in Chicago for some time. She was employed as an executive secretary in government agencies. Phyllis is survived by her children Tommy (Laura) Farnham of Kilgore, TX, Mark (Debbie) Farnham of Tyler, TX, Kevin Farnham of Northfield, NJ, Noelle (Bobby) Hirst of Manvel, TX, and Vickie (Don) Proudfoot of Lindale, TX; brother George (Pat) Satala of Oysterville, WA; sisters Lou (Ron) Sala of LaValle, WI, Betty Kubiak of LaValle, WI, and Joan (Ron) Krasneck of Hernando, FL; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 22 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Waters; former husband Tom Farnham; brothers John, Paul and Vic Satala; and sister Florence Hudacek. Private services are planned at her request. Cremation arrangements are by Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach.
