Naselle, Washington resident Charles LeRoy "Hoopy" Holm, 80, died July 4, 2012 in Longview, WA from complications related to Alzheimer's. He was born in South Bend on May 22, 1932 the son of Forrest and Florence (Raemhild) Holm. Hoopy married his high school sweetheart Verna Penttila on May 5, 1951. He served during the Korean War and upon completion of his military service returned to Naselle and spent the rest of his working life as a heavy equipment logger for Penttila Logging and DeBriae Logging. During his retirement years he kept busy serving as the Naselle area handyman. He also served with the Naselle Fire Department, was timekeeper for Naselle High School "Comets" sports events for many years, and was a member of Naselle Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Verna; daughter Cindy; sons Steve and Chris; daughter in law Carolyn; son in law George; grandchildren Jenny, Mike, John, George and Sophia. A graveside service will be on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle. A reception will follow at the Holm residence.
