James E. Dunn, 76, died at his Seaview, Washington residence on January 7, 2013. The son of Helen and Gene Dunn, he was born in Seattle, Washington on July 12, 1934. As a child he moved with his family to Portland, Oregon where he attended Robert Gray elementary school and Lincoln high school. Jim enlisted in the US Army where he became a sergeant and served in Japan. Returning home, he graduated from Lewis & Clark College in Portland with a degree in business administration, specializing in accounting. Initially he worked at the Oregon Heart Association and then for a short while at Price-Waterhouse Accountants. He joined Regency-Blue Cross as assistant controller. By the time of his retirement he had become senior vice president. From the 1970s on he enjoyed the Oregon and Washington coast. Over the years he hosted many sand castle parties and other events at his home in Cannon Beach. Jim is survived by his wife Joanne; brother Larry Dunn; daughter Julie and husband Mike Sims; grandchildren Amanda and Michaelle Shaw, Hayden and Hope Sims; and great-grandson Michael Shaw.
