Mabel Josephine Kotek, 67, died at her Long Beach residence on July 18, 2013. The daughter of Albert and Alice (Kasparek) Kasper, she was born December 22, 1945 in Lemmon, South Dakota. Mabel attended Belle Fourche and Lead High School. She and Aris Kotek were married in Sundance, Wyoming on March 18, 1962 and had 51 splendid years together. In 1966 she relocated to Long Beach. There she raised her family and worked in banking in Ilwaco for a number of years. Besides her husband, Mabel is survived by her daughters Ivy Kotek, Tarri Kotek, Rhonda (Viliuflo) Kotel-Lopez of Long Beach and Toni Kotek of Portland, OR; grandchildren Tosha, Jessica, Nichole, Benjamin, Joseph and Beau; sister Adeline Griffin; brothers Alfred, Joseph and Jack Kasper and Steve Kasparek; brother-in-laws Skip Kotek and Marvin (Sue) Kotek; sister-in-laws Jody (Wayne) Plumb, Connie Berscheid and Marie Jarvis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Annabel, Lillian and Alice May. Her family will be having a remembrance at a later date.
