Inez Marie Wirkkala

Inez Marie Wirkkala passed away on July 31, 2013, at Alpine Way Retirement Center in Shelton, WA. She was born on August 3, 1924 to Emil and Katie (Waranen) Johnson in Deep River, WA, the second of three daughters. She married Ben Wirkkala on August 8, 1941 in Naselle, WA and made her home there until 2010. Her family and church was the focal point of her life. She loved her flower gardening, cooking, traveling and time spent with all her children and grandchildren. Inez is survived by four children and their spouses: Wally (Maria) Wirkkala and Russell (Sirkka) Wirkkala both of Naselle, Cathy (Rick) Verbarendse of Shelton, WA and Sharman (Rick) Horvath of Meridian, ID; grandchildren Regan (Sara) Wirkkala, Tim (Sabrina) Wirkkala, Lamar (Bekah) Wirkkala, Ryan (Erin) Wirkkala, Guy (Jenny) Wirkkala, Lee (Rachelle) Verbarendse, Greg (Towhee) Verbarendse, Dale Verbarendse and Michael Horvath; thirteen great grandchildren; sister Vieno Denny of Puyallup, WA; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ben, son James D. Wirkkala, and sister Miriam Haataia. A funeral service was held Monday August 5, 2013 at the Naselle Assembly of God Church with a graveside service following at Peaceful Hill Cemetery.
