Lela Ann Howell, 77, died January 8, 2014 in Ocean Park at the residence of family. The daughter of Oliver and Elsie West, she was born March 12, 1936 in Portland, Oregon. Leah grew up on the Oregon coast. She and her husband James O. Howell established their first home in Elkton, Oregon. She took pride in her role as wife, mother and homemaker. Blessed with a strong work ethic, Leah was employed as a nurse's aide, warehouse worker, dishwasher, chore girl and security guard. She was a member of various Pentecostal churches. Over the years she enjoyed yard work, fishing, camping, crocheting and family events. Leah is survived by daughter Debra Stalcup and sons Jon Howell and Joe Howell all of Ocean Park; son James Howell of Roseburg, OR; daughter Dawn Reese of Vancouver, WA; son Roland Howell of Portland; brothers North West of Dallesport, WA and South West of Reedsport, OR; grandchildren Wana, Wesa, Wendy, James and Leonard Reese, Crystal and Lelabell Howell, and Ethan Stalcup; great-grandchildren Miranda, Amber, Sean and Rex Stalcup and Torie, Jacob, Evan and Lily; and numerous nieces and nephews.
