David Bruce Lonergan

November 9, 1954 — July 10, 2014

David B. Lonergan, 59, died peacefully on July 10, 2014 at his Ocean Park residence following a valiant battle with cancer. Born November 9, 1954 in Vancouver, Washington, he was the youngest of five sons born to Gerald and Geraldine (Burnham) Lonergan. His father is a Episcopal minister and the family moved frequently as the Lord needed. David graduated from Denby High School in Detroit, Michigan and it was there that he began his love of the Detroit Tigers baseball team. Following high school he moved to Vancouver, Washington. David worked for Jantzen Knitting Mills prior to being employed as an arborist for the Vancouver School District for over 25 years. Ten years ago he moved to the Peninsula, having often visited the area as a child where his family maintained a vacation home. He was employed as a truck driver for Peninsula Sanitation until his recent illness. David enjoyed life; he loved to travel and meet new friends; enjoyed music, his beloved Detroit Tigers, a good laugh, and time with family and friends. He and Jennifer Heckes were married September 15, 2007. She survives residing at the family home. Also surviving are a daughter Trina Cloud; his parents The Rev. Gerald and Geraldine Lonergan; brothers Will (Zera), Tom (Julie), Michael (Vickie) and Joseph, all of whom reside in the Vancouver area; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Burial Office and Eucharist will be held Sat., July 19, 2014, 1:00 PM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church (The Peninsula Church Center), 5000 "N", Seaview with a reception following.
