Kenneth Mathison

Kenneth Richard Mathison, 66, of Klipsan Beach, Washington died August 26, 2014 at his residence. He was born September 9, 1947 in San Diego, CA to Donald and Phyllis (Norburg) Mathison. The family made numerous moves between California and Alaska, finally to Washington State. Ken graduated from Sammish High School. Following high school, he joined the US Navy and served multiple tours in Vietnam. After completing his enlistment, he returned to San Diego where he attended San Diego Junior College where he was awarded his Associates Degree. On his birthday, September 9, 1992 he married Patricia Harrison in Virginia City, NV following which the established their first home in Kent, WA. The moved to Vancouver, WA in 1992 and together they purchased a second home in Ocean Park where he hoped to someday permanently retire. Ken worked for Lucent Technologies for 31 years from which he had his first retirement. Not one to sit ideally by, in 2002 he started his own company, Telestar Communications and Telestar Home Repair. Health issues that began in 2013 forced him to retire a second time. Ken was a member of the Eagles in Ocean Park and a past member of the BNI and Grange. He loved to fish, clam dig, antique cars, remodeling and gardening. Ken is survived by his wife Pat of the family home; children Jennifer Mathison of Snoqualimie, Jason Mathison of Monroe, Tamara (Edward) Shilley of Bellevue, Barbara Syverson of Vancouver and Andrew Brownfield of Bellevue; brothers Dennis (Sue) Mathison of Kennewick and Barry (Judy) Mathison of Spokane; sister Darla Mathison of Bremerton; grandchildren Madison and Ellie Syverson of Vancouver and Nathan and Ally Shilley of Bellevue. He was proceeded in death by his parents. A celebration of Ken's life will be held by the family at a later date in Vancouver.
