Jack D. Buchheim, 83, died at his Ocean Park residence on September 11, 2014. A native of Scranton, Kansas, he was born there on August 9, 1931, the son of John and Anna Buchheim. In 1949 he graduated from high school in Carbondale, Kansas and was a graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelors degree in engineering. Jack made a career working as an engineer for the US Department of Agriculture. On January 19, 1963, Jack married Jean Dora Addis in Eureka, California. In 1988 he and Jean moved from Juneau, Alaska to the Peninsula following retirement. Jack was a member of Ocean Park Eagles, Long Beach Elks and the American Legion, having served in our nation's military. He enjoyed bowling. Survivors include his daughter Tracy (Brian) Buck of Juneau, Alaska, son Chris (Marcella) Carter of Maui, Hawaii, son Jay Carter of Ocean Park; brother Jerry (Sara) Buchheim of Florida; sisters Marcella Rogers of Kansas, Linda (Gary) Bullis of Virginia; sister-in-law Sara Buchheim of Florida; grandchildren Ashley Buck, Brooks Carter, Steven Carter, Jennifer Carter, Bryson Buck and Sierra Buck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
