Beverly Johnson

Beverly Kay (Driscoll) Johnson, 76, died October 5, 2014 in Tacoma, Washington. The daughter of Thomas and Hazel Driscoll, she was born in Portland, Oregon on August 27, 1938. Her parents worked in the Portland shipyards during the war years. The conflict over, they moved to Ocean Park. Bev attended Ocean Park elementary and was a 1956 graduate of Ilwaco High School where she was active in numerous school activities. Following high school Bev began her career in banking at the National Bank of Commerce branch in Ilwaco as a teller. In subsequent years she lived in California where she worked for Bank of America before returning to the Northwest. Living in Kelso she returned to National Bank of Commerce which became Rainier Bank from which Bev retired as a loan officer. After dating for five years, she and Dallas Johnson were married September 27, 1979. They resided in the Longview area for 14 years prior to returning to Ocean Park, also maintaining a home in Tacoma. Bev enjoyed walks on the beach, golden sunsets, most any outdoor activity and especially enjoyed road trips with Dallas on their "Gold Wing" motorcycle. Strong in her Christian faith, she was a member of the Family Worship Center of Ocean Park. Besides her husband of 35 years, Bev is survived by sisters Virginia Wilson of Chinook, WA, Lois Kaino of Hammond, OR and Evelyn Lynn of Bakersfield, CA; brother Les Driscoll of Ilwaco; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held Sat., October 11, 2014, 1:00 PM at the Family Worship Center, 263rd and Ridge in Ocean Park. A reception follows. Private burial will be at Ilwaco Cemetery. Her casket will be open at Penttila's Chapel in Long Beach from 10 AM until 4 PM. on Thursday, October 9th. Bev's guestbook is available at www.penttilaschapel.com.
