David Lee Jones

Former Ocean Park resident David Lee Jones, 77, died November 22, 2014 in Kirkland, Washington following a valiant battle with cancer. "Davy" was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin on April 9, 1937, the son of Ralph and Ellen (Ernst) Jones. In 1955 Davy left Wisconsin to began his 27 year career with the US Navy. He retired in 1982 with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer IV. On May 15, 1966 he married the love of his life, Hideko Imai. In 1973 he was transferred to Keyport Torpedo Station in Puget Sound with his wife and two young children. For the ensuing 29 years the family was fortunate to reside in Bremerton. Following retirement the couple moved to Ocean Park. They both were active in the Peninsula Senior Citizen Center at Klipsan Beach. The beauty of Hawaii called and they purchased a home there, splitting their time between the two locations. In 2004 Davy lost his beloved life companion to cancer. He then moved full time to Hawaii where he created a great life in Waikoloa Village on the Big Island. Davy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He was blessed with a strong sense of family, love of county, wonderful sense of humor and was a true gentleman. Davy is survived by his daughter Renee Loree of Juneau, Alaska; son David Jones of Kirkland, WA; grandchildren Mia and Reed Loree and Savannah and Kylie Jones. David was laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Ocean Park Cemetery.
