Mary Linda Cothren, 68, died in Portland, Oregon on December 11, 2014. Born May 14, 1946 in Vancouver, Washington, Mary was the second of twelve children born to Fred and Helen (Kalahan) Jenkins. The family resided in Napavine, Washington during Mary's childhood where as the eldest daughter she helped her mother raise her younger siblings. Schooling was received at Napavine and Castle Rock schools. At age 17 Mary married J.C. Cothren on November 22, 1963, the day of President Kennedy's death. Their first home was in Chehalis, Washington. Mary was a wife and homemaker, and was employed as a cashier. She also became mother to four children. The couple lived for a few years in California until moving to Ocean Park in 1986. Locally she worked at East Point Seafoods in Nahcotta, as a maid at Edgewater Inn in Long Beach and helped her husband manage the Clam Tide RV Park in Ocean Park until retirement. J.C. died in 2013. Mary's priority was her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, sharing the bounty not only with family but friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed watching wildlife, reading, movies, wrestling, country music and her canine companions Barkley and Tommy. She also enjoyed staying in contact with her grandchildren and members of her large extended family, gardening and canning produce. Mary is survived by her daughter Kim Cothren of Ocean Park; sons James (Melodie) Cothren of Ontario, Canada, Daniel Cothren of Ocean Park, and William "Bill" (Tiffany) Cothren of Marysville, PA; sisters Martha English of Roseville, CA and Wanda Houston of Ocean Park; brothers Kenneth Jenkins of Ocean Park, Scott Jenkins of Ocean Park, Stan (Theresa) Jenkins of Astoria, Steve (Pam) Jenkins and Ed (Kathy) Jenkins; grandchildren Adrian Cothren, Aaron Cothren, Hayley (Jose) Campos, Gaje and Avah Cothrenn, Kayla Taylor, Christian Taylor and Shawn Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Ron Jenkins, Gary Jenkins and Tommy Jenkins and sister Corinne Jenkins-Houston.
