Ocean Park resident Geneva May Hughes, 85, died in Ilwaco on January 17, 2015. A native of Seattle, she was the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth (Thomas) O'Connor and was born in the Emerald city on December 20, 1929. Geneva received her education in Seattle schools. On October 26, 1951 she married Harold Hughes in Seattle and the couple settled in nearby Bothell where Geneva was a wife and homemaker, later mother to daughters Victoria and Deborah. Throughout her life Geneva was busy in many endeavors. While in Seattle she served as president of the Canyon Creek Orthopedic Guild, was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, and volunteer at Swedish Hospital, Children's Hospital and the Seattle Veteran's Hospital. Geneva was also very active with the American Legion Auxiliary, having served as Washington state president in 1989. She and Harold retired to Ocean Park thirty years ago. Geneva was a member of the Modern Travelers Club, Ocean Park Eagles a member of Ocean Beach Presbyterian Church in Seaview where she was a Deacon and member of the Presbyterian Church Women. Geneva enjoyed needlework and reading and she and Harold enjoyed trips to Maui. Family was paramount in her life and she enjoyed the family get-togethers, birthdays, the Holidays and always being together. Geneva was blessed with a friendly, out-going personality, always ready with a smile and laugh. Geneva is survived by her daughters Victoria Lewin and husband Mike; Deborah Williams and husband Brad; grandchildren Monique Taylor, Ken Lewin, Jennifer Maples, Justin Williams and Wes Williams; and great-grandsons Ryan and Jack Taylor, Ryder Maples and Keegan Williams. Her husband Harold preceded her in death in 2008. Funeral service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Covington, Washington on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 1:15 PM.
