John Allen Hannick, 58, a 15 year resident of the Long Beach Peninsula, died at his Ilwaco, WA residence on May 4, 2015 of natural causes. The son of John and Catherine Hannick, he was born in Aberdeen, Washington on October 4, 1956. John grew up in Aberdeen where he graduated from high school and attended Grays Harbor College. For a number of years John was employed as a carpenter for Fogde & Jensen in Aberdeen. He was also employed at the Grays Harbor Historical Port Authority. In 2001 he moved to Ocean Park and began his own landscape and gardening business. There he attended Peninsula Baptist Church and was baptized. John was a member of the BASS Club of Aberdeen. He loved all types of fishing, especially bass fishing at the Pot Holes in Eastern Washington. He also enjoyed cooking and woodworking. His son Josh recalls that "dad loved NASCAR racing and hot sunny days". John was previously married to Jacki Johnson while residing in Aberdeen. They were parents to a son Joshua who survives residing in Olympia. Also surviving are John's parents John Hannick of Hoquiam; mother Catherine Hannick of Aberdeen; brother Joe Hannick of Bothell, WA; sisters Kathy Long of Ocean Park, WA and Sheri Stutesman of Port Angeles; and numerous nieces and nephews. John had a kind, warm heart that touched the hearts of many and he will be missed.
