James "Jim" "Jake" Theodore Jacques, 59, died July 6, 2015 in Long Beach of natural causes. The son of James and Dorothy (Lucier) Jacques, he was born in Longview, Washington on April 27, 1956. Jake attended St. Helens Elementary School in Longview, Castle Rock Junior High School in Castle Rock and graduated from Castle Rock High School in 1974. Thirty years ago Jake moved to the Long Beach Peninsula. A heavy machine operator, he loved his dump truck and to play in the dirt. For the past 16 years he was employed by Wirkkala Construction of Long Beach. Jake was a member of Long Beach Elks #1937, Bear River Archers, and was a 25 year volunteer with the Long Beach Fire Department. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, photographer, camper, outdoors man, rescuer, 4-wheeler, carpenter, mechanic, archery enthusiast, and firewood provider for his family. He enjoyed life at the beach and was always learning and sharing the history of the Long Beach Peninsula. Jake came from a large family with strong values. He was a proud father to his children, a devoted husband, loving grandpa (Dampa), son, brother, uncle and friend to many. Loving and generous, he was always putting others before himself, doing whatever he could for anyone. His smile lit up a room. He cherish his friendshipsold and newand will be missed and not soon forgotten. On September 17, 2005 he married Carola Zoske in Long Beach, She survives residing at the family home. Also surviving are his mother Dorothy "Joyce" (Gary) Sanderson of Kelso/Castle Rock; children Emily (Chad) Friddle of Orting, WA, Kim (Nate) Dunham of Spokane, WA, Ashley (Travis) Strobl of Olympia, WA, Karine (Caleb) Ingraham of Shoreline, WA, John Wagner of Long Beach and Nickolas (Kelsey) Pardee of Tacoma, WA; brother Jon Jacques of Long Beach, WA; sisters Linda (Ken) Roth of Longview, Kimberly (Tom) Warren of Longview, Kelly (Mike) Chappelle of Toledo, WA, and Karen (Bill) Leff of Longview; grandchildren Owen and Alyssa Friddle, Nash and Olivia Dunham, Kason Strobl, Remy Ingraham and Easton Pardee; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father James Jacques. Graveside service will be held Sunday, July 19, 2015, 2:00 PM at Lone Fir Cemetery in Long Beach (off Sandridge Road). A celebration of his life follows at the Long Beach Elks. His casket will be open Thursday and Friday, July 16th and 17th, 9 AM until 4 PM at Penttila's Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach.
