Kathleen Claire Gordon
September 18, 1929 — July 14, 2016
Kathleen C. Gordon, 86, of Ocean Park, WA passed away July 14, 2016 at home. Her daughter wrote the following, touching obituary:On July 14, 2016 the world felt a shift as my beautiful Mother's life ended at 2:55 am. Kathleen was born in Denver Colorado in Grant Memorial Hospital. Her Mother was Velma Black of Scottish /English decent. Her Father was Grant McMahon of Irish decent. At the age of four Kathleen's Mother passed away and she began her new life living under the care and guidance of her Maternal Grandparents. Mother remembers picnics with Grandma on a hill behind their house in Rocksprings Wyoming. They would stare at the sky and choose which cloud her Mother was resting in that day. This continued until Mother recovered from her loss.
On August 24, 1946 Mother married my Father Kenneth Gordon. Together they brought four children into the family. William Everett, Kenneth Dale, Sheila Claire, and Randy Clay. Mother's oldest son William Everett Gordon passed away on November 21, 1975. The remaining children continue to live a strong healthy life due to Mother's wonderful parenting skills.
Rather than concentrating on Mother's education and lifetime achievements. I would rather tell you about the things I most loved about my Mother. Mom was full of energy. She sang, laughed, and danced her way through our childhood. All while maintaining great wisdom and a sharp sense of humor. In fact, her beach friends loved her BECAUSE of her sharp mind and witty humor.
One of my best memories of Mother was her "Groceries store dancing routines". She loved the background music in the store and would be doing a gig, while simultaneously picking up various food items and throwing them into her cart. I loved her energy and felt safe in her presence. We were loved and cared for while being schooled in good work ethics and social skills.
Mother was my heart. She was my companion and my strength. The world was a better place because of her existence. I will miss her. She lives forever in my heart Arrangements by Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach, WA.
