Richard G. Bullis, 79, a resident of the Peninsula the past 23 years, died in Ilwaco on February 28, 2018. The son of William and Mary Bullis, he was born in Los Angeles, California on May 13, 1938. Richard grew up in nearby Compton where he graduated from high school.
Richard served his country as a cook in the US Army. For a number of years he was a groundskeeper for the Unified School District in California. Following retirement in 1996 he moved to the Peninsula. On September 18, 1999 he married Mardell Booi who survives.
Richard was a member of Long Beach Elks #1937. He enjoyed camping and fishing and was always looking for mermaids, the sightings of which have yet to be confirmed.
Richard will be remembered as a loving husband and father who always put his family first.
Besides his wife, Richard is survived by daughters Andrea Arhelger and Annette Senczi both of Quartzville, CA; son William Bullis of Texas City, Texas; step-children KC Mosher of Naselle, Lisa Mosher of Clear Lake, CA, Denise Mosher of Altoona, Florida; brothers Tim Bullis of San Diego, CA and Kenny Bullis of Kelso, WA; sister Janie Susob of Kelso; 14 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
