Brett Finlay, 51, passed away June 4, 2018, at his home in Shelton, Washington. Brett grew up on the Long Beach peninsula, the youngest of six children. After high school, he received his machinist certification from Lower Columbia College and worked for several years as a machinist before starting his own construction company. He was exceptionally good with building things and anything mechanical. His dad, in particular relied on Brett when anything needed to be built or fixed around the house. Brett loved dogs and always had one or two near his side. Brett also enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
In 2011, Brett suffered a rare infection on his spinal cord that left him paralyzed. Despite this, he continued to persevere. Everyone who knew Brett knew he lived life loudly! He loved his family, and leaves behind two children, Cecelia Finlay Wakefield and Jacob Finlay, to honor his memory. Brett’s children along with his siblings and their families will always remember the exuberance with which he lived life. Brett has left to join his brother Jeff, his sister Darcy, and his parents, Jim and Marie Finlay, and his nephew, Bryson Finlay. Think of them with happiness when you are at the beach, fishing, or spending time with your own family. Your family, your friends, and your dogs will always miss you, Brett.
